Over Lucy and the Man:
When Loes van Schaijk and Tim de Man met at the conservatory in Rotterdam, they were in the same musical situation; they each had their share of experience playing in metal-, rock-, jazz- and bluegrass formations, but were always confronted with the boundaries and limits of genres when writing music. Because the logical solution was to become singer-songwriters, Loes took her guitar into a dreary little corner of her room and Tim found a friend in his computer… and piano. What started out as an exchange of songwriting advice based on mutual respect grew out to become a duo where the whole is more than the sum of the parts. Add Loes’ lyrics and distinct Americana sound to Tim’s original melodies and sequencing skills, multiply this with the wide range of both voices and an open mind and the result is a suprisingly versatile singer/songwriter duo.
Lucy & the Man might take to the stage as a duo with an acoustic set, but on special occasions they’ll be supported by guest musicians to really bring their more complex compositions to life.
